Raw Materials Buyer

Responsible for purchasing raw materials to support production demands while minimizing inventory levels. Manage purchase orders, inventory, and supplier performance to ensure on- time delivery and cost efficiency.

Create, maintain, and issue Purchase Orders in AS400, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain basic technical understanding of assigned materials, testing requirements, and related production processes.
Conduct periodic supplier performance and pricing reviews.
Follow up material readiness for new programs to support timely production launch.
Coordinate daily with suppliers on order status, delivery schedules, and supply issues.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor / Department Head.
Monitor inventory levels, preventing shortages and slow- moving or aged inventory.
Share weekly forecasts and align purchasing plans with production demand.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Apics certification preferred.

Experience:

2- 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or material planning, preferably in furniture / upholstery manufacturing.

Knowledge:

Familiarity with inventory control and material planning in a production environment.
Basic understanding of upholstery manufacturing processes and material flow.
Knowledge of raw materials used in furniture products (e.g. fabric, leather, foam, fiber, wood, hardware, packaging).

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to track, measure, and control KPIs related to purchasing and inventory.
Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Good command of English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
Ability to work with suppliers to ensure on- time delivery, quality, and cost performance.
Strong planning and coordination skills to support production schedules and material availability.
Continuous improvement mindset in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
Data- oriented with strong attention to inventory accuracy and cost control.
