JOB CONTEXT
Damen Song Cam Shipyard (DSCS) specializes in engineering, outfitting, commissioning, and delivering various Damen standard ship types. Basic designs and some components are provided by Damen Workboats, while DSCS completes detailed design and production information for vessel assembly.
The Quality Assurance (QA) Department ensures compliance with international standards and Damen requirements, focusing on quality management systems, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:
To develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Assurance system in alignment with Damen standards and ISO requirements. The QA Manager ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and customer requirements, manages audits, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across the shipyard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACTIVITIES
Maintain QA documentations:
- Develop and maintain quality policies and procedures in line with Damen standards and ISO (currently: 9001, 14001 & 45001) requirements.
(in line with those established by the parent company in Holland, which should contain the vision, method, and planning in regards to developing, preserving and improving existing management systems to meet ISO standards, legal requirements, class rules and other applicable standards)
- Support in the creation/update of ITPs under the guidance of group QA, if necessary.
- Develop process landscape of the shipyard (process house).
Quality Management System Implementation
- Oversee the implementation and practical application of the QA management system, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
Audit management and control
- Plan and coordinate internal audits; manage external audits for certification and compliance (ISO, class rules).
- Ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
Database Management
- Maintain quality management system, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Compliance
- Initiate and manage improvement projects (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma) to enhance quality performance and efficiency.
Supplier and Stakeholder Coordination
- Support in maintaining communication with suppliers and stakeholders regarding quality requirements and performance.
Reporting
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to management, highlighting trends and improvement opportunities.
Budget management
- Managing the budget for Quality programs and initiatives.
