BASIC FUNCTION:
The position is responsible for ensuring the efficient day- to- day operation of the Security Department, maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, residents, associates and visitors while ensuring compliance with company policies, local regulations and emergency response requirements.
The Assistant Chief Security acts on behalf of the Chief Security during his absence.
The Assistant Chief Security assists the Chief Security in planning, organizing, coordinating and supervising all security, safety, fire life safety and loss prevention activities of the hotel and residences.
DUTIED AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Supervision
- Maintains high standards of appearance, discipline and professionalism within the department.
- Assists in performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures.
- Ensures all security personnel perform their duties professionally and efficiently.- Conducts daily briefings and shift handovers.
- Monitors employee performance and provides coaching when required.
- Assists in preparing duty rosters, leave schedules and manpower deployment plans.
- Assists the Chief Security in managing the daily operations of the Security Department.
- Supervises Security Supervisors and Outsourced security guards during assigned shifts.
Security Operations
- Conducts regular inspections and patrols of all guest and back- of- house areas.
- Monitors loading dock, receiving areas, staff entrances and vehicle access points. Ensures proper key control and asset protection procedures are followed.
- Responds to security incidents and emergencies promptly.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and investigation records.
- Assists in conducting investigations involving: Theft, Lost Property, Property Damage, Fraud, Guest Complaints, Employee Misconduct.
- Ensures effective access control procedures for guests, associates, contractors and visitors.
- Oversee CCTV monitoring and security control room operations.
- Supervises all security operations throughout the property.
- Recommends corrective actions to prevent recurrence of incidents.
Fire Life Safety & Emergency Response
- Assists in coordinating emergency responses involving: Fire Incidents, Medical Emergencies, Bomb Threats, Natural Disasters, Security Threats.
- Acts as Emergency Response Team Leader when assigned.
- Ensure fire exits, emergency lighting and evacuation signage remain unobstructed and operational.
- Conducts regular inspections of fire protection equipment and systems.
- Verifies the readiness of emergency equipment and evacuation routes.
- Assists in implementing Fire Life Safety programs throughout the property.
- Participates in fire drills and emergency exercises.
Safety & Risk Management
- Monitors contractor compliance with hotel safety requirements.
- Assists with risk assessments and loss prevention initiatives.
- Assists in workplace accident investigations.
- Reports unsafe conditions and recommends corrective actions.
- Supports implementation of occupational health and safety programs.
- Conducts routine safety inspections and hazard identification audits.
Guest & Employee Relations
- Supports VIP arrivals, government delegations and special events.
- Assists guests and associates with security- related concerns.
- Provides professional support during emergencies and critical incidents. Handles guest complaints related to safety and security matters.
- Maintains a visible presence throughout the property to enhance guest confidence and deter security incidents.
Training & Development
- Delivers security awareness and fire safety training programs.
- Conducts orientation training for new security associates.
- Promotes safety and security awareness among all hotel associates.
- Maintains training records and attendance documentation.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintains accurate departmental records and reports.
- Reviews Daily Security Reports and Incident Reports.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of security equipment.
- Maintains confidentiality of all security information.
- Assists in preparing weekly and monthly departmental reports.
- Maintains: Key Control Records, Lost & Found Records, Visitor Logs, Contractor Records, CCTV Records, Training Records.
External Liaison
- Supports official inspections and emergency coordination activities.
- Assists with investigations involving external authorities when required.
- Assists the Chief Security in maintaining relationships with: Local Police, Fire & Rescue Authorities, Medical Services, Government Agencies.

CRITERIA:
Minimum three (3) years of security experience in hotels, resorts, commercial properties or equivalent.
Good investigation and report writing skills.
Minimum one (1) year in a supervisory role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with CCTV, access control and security systems.
Good command of spoken and written English.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of security operations, fire prevention and emergency response procedures.
Ability to remain calm and make decisions during emergencies.
