Job Summary
Job Responsibilities
We are working with a listed retail company that has grown exponentially in value and its premium brand is much- loved and respected. We are looking to hire an exceptional commercial lawyer to lead up its legal function.
Supporting and advising on all types of commercial contracting (eg. supply chain, distribution etc):
Developing and leading corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company&039;s matters
Participating in the formulation of general management policy as a member of the executive management team
Advising on marketing, e- commerce, and branding matters from a legal, risk and commercial perspective.
Overseeing the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies, and priorities
Maintaining proper corporate interactions with the relevant local, state, and federal governmental bodies, legislatures, and the community at large
Managing M&A/JV/business development activity (while enlisting the support of external lawyers as and when required).
Managing a team of corporate counsel and other members of the legal department
Developing and leading internal audit and corporate compliance programs
Experience Requirements
6+ years PQE or more of relevant experience in a major law firm and/or an in- house legal department of a large corporation.
Any of the following areas of experience are bonuses: Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain
Proven track record of delivering consistently on complex projects under challenging and time- critical circumstances with a sense of urgency, but with the ability to also keep broader strategic objectives in focus
Extensive knowledge and experience in advising on contract and commercial law
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with significant experience and proven success in roles requiring an ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally
Experience leading a team of lawyers
Education requirements
Strong academic credentials and demonstrated record of success as a lawyer.
