Position: Video Editor (Project- Based)
Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and disciplined Project- Based Video Editor to collaborate with RICE on upcoming productions. In this role, you will be responsible for executing the post- production phase for specific campaigns, documentaries, or commercial projects.
We need a storyteller who can hit the ground running—someone who combines technical proficiency with creative intuition to turn raw footage into emotionally resonant stories. You will work closely with our directors and producers to ensure the final output aligns with the project’s vision and our technical standards.
Scope of Work & Deliverables
Narrative Editing: Assemble raw materials (interviews, b- roll, visual assets) into cohesive stories. This includes reviewing transcripts to identify compelling angles and applying pacing/rhythm to maximize audience engagement.
Final Delivery: Export all versions (rough cuts to final masters) meeting specific standards for length, format, and resolution.
Finishing Touches: Apply titles, basic color grading, sound design/mixing, and visual effects to enhance the production value of the edit.
DIT & Media Management (If applicable/On- site): Serve as Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) during scheduled shoot days—managing data wrangling, backups, and on- set media organization.
Responsibilities & Workflow
Screenings: Participate in review sessions to discuss cuts and implement creative inputs from the team.
Collaboration: Translate creative briefs from producers and directors into visual stories. You must be responsive to feedback and capable of turning around revisions quickly.
AI Integration: Utilize AI tools where appropriate to speed up workflow (e.g., transcription, rough assembly) without sacrificing creative quality.
Adherence to SOPs: Rigorously follow RICE’s existing editing workflows, including specific folder structures, project naming conventions, and version control to ensure seamless file integration with our internal team.
Asset Handover: Ensure all project files and footage are organized, backed up, and archived according to company guidelines for easy hand- off at project completion.
Requirements
Communication: Excellent command of English (spoken and written) for analyzing transcripts and team communication.
Professionalism: Highly organized, detail- oriented, and strict adherence to deadlines.
Storytelling: Strong narrative intuition—you don’t just cut footage; you build a story.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro is mandatory (DaVinci Resolve is a plus).
Workstation: Must have access to a reliable editing workstation capable of handling high- resolution footage (if working remotely).
Experience: Proven experience in editing diverse formats (Commercials, Documentaries, Branded Content).
