Job Purpose Statement:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive sustainable market growth in Vietnam by identifying and executing business opportunities, strengthening trade relationships, and delivering market share gains. The role requires a blend of strategic market management skills and hands- on business development, leveraging prior experience in tobacco or FMCG multinational companies. The BDM will also be responsible for leading and developing a high- performing team to deliver commercial objectives while ensuring compliance with legal and corporate standards.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Lead Market Growth
• Partner with the Market Manager and cluster teams to adapt global strategies to local market realities.
• Translate market and consumer insights into actionable plans.
• Monitor market dynamics, and regulatory landscape to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Craft and execute market strategies that deliver sustainable volume, share, and profit growth.
Build Strong Partnerships
• Actively strengthen relationships with distributors, key accounts, factory teams, and other critical stakeholders to maintain strong rapport, trust, and collaboration.
• Negotiate agreements that drive mutual growth and long- term strategic alignment.
Commercial Planning & Execution
• Build and maintain strong trade and distribution partnerships to secure product availability, visibility, and sales growth.
• Lead negotiations with key accounts, distributors, and strategic partners to optimize commercial terms and improve profitability.
• Drive portfolio and pricing strategies to maximize market share and revenue.
People Leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop the sales and trade marketing team to achieve targets and develop future leaders.
• Ensure internal training and development programs are in place to regularly upskill the team in negotiation, sales excellence, and compliance.
• Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Data- Driven Decision Making
• Prepare and present regular business performance updates to senior leadership.
• Analyse sales performance, market share reports, and consumer insights for informed decision- making.
Compliance & Governance
• Promote ethical business practices and maintain high corporate reputation.
• Ensure all business activities comply with internal policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
