Main Accountabilities
The Brand Protection Manager will be a part of the Brand Protection Group at regional and Global level. The purpose of the role is to provide pragmatic, effective and timely actions consistent with business objectives to address all illicit trade activities (counterfeit and infringing greys) throughout Bangladesh on all Unilever brands. The role will be reporting operationally into Brand Protection at Cluster level, while the role of the Brand Protection function itself is to implement suitable anti- counterfeiting plans to assist the business in its market development work.
Responsible for all Brand Protection activities within Bangladesh and in close liaison with adjoining Unilever markets.
●Evaluate and supervise all the third party investigations in a timely, professional, and cost efficient manner.
●Manage any counterfeit incident within Bangladesh following agreed guidelines on incidents and product recall.
●Developing operational trade knowledge and expertise of the company to ensure that Brand Protection plans complement business needs and objectives.
●Ensure continuity when local management changes take place.
●Ensuring that the approach is consistent with Regional and Global Strategy.
●Work closely with the region Brand Protection Director and with Brand Protection Cluster leads around the world to ensure cross- border consistency of approach to counterfeits and infringing greys.
●Manages investigation projects within agreed budgets.
Assist Brand Category teams by providing regular updates on the levels of counterfeiting activity of their brands and recommendations to better protect them.
●Maintain an overview of pending and existing legislation affecting counterfeits and infringing greys.
Understand the most effective practical options for actions, legal or otherwise and use this knowledge to suggest pragmatic, cost- effective, timely plans to the business
●Make regular market visits with focus at the bottom end (one of the most likely sales areas for counterfeits), and with attention to e- commerce platforms.
Together with trusted external stakeholder partners, design and implement sophisticated multifaceted strategies aimed at protecting our consumers, achieving business objectives and growth targets and reducing or eliminating the presence of counterfeits and greys.
●Meet regularly face to face with 3P IP partners.
●Co- develop effective relationships with all related officials in key market areas, Customs, Revenue, Standards, Food & Drug Boards, and related senior government representatives.
●Responsible for preparing all training programmes for enforcement officials.
Key Skills & Competencies:
●Basic understanding of trademarks and other intellectual property rights
●Experience in interacting with Government officials.
●Proven understanding and experience of the full range of illicit trade activities
●Excellent understanding of how the retail/wholesale trade operates across SEAA, and Bangladesh in particular.
●Knowledge of investigative principles.
●Willingness to travel widely throughout Bangladesh, often at short notice (travel comprises up to 50% of the role)

Experience & Competencies
●Background of 5+ years in either sales and marketing in branded consumer goods or IP investigative work.
●Basic understanding of trademarks and other intellectual property rights
●Good communication and training skills; ability to interact effectively at all levels internally and externally ∙ Willingness to travel widely throughout SEAA, often at short notice (travel comprises up to 50% of the role) ∙ Experience of managing a budget
●Experience in interacting with Government officials
●Ability to prioritize issues
●Proven understanding and experience of the full range of illicit trade activities
●Good computer skills including experience of Microsoft Office applications
●Good command of English and Bengali, both written and spoken
●Excellent understanding of how the retail/wholesale trade operates across SEAA
OTHER SKILLS:
●Also advantageous (but not required):
●An understanding of the Consumer Protection regime
●Knowledge of supply chain and shipping routes in SEAA
●Knowledge of regulatory standards
●Ability to speak at industry conferences
