Application Technologist - Savoury (Temp contract 4 months)

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute daily brief- related tasks including flavour selection, product evaluation, and application development
Select optimal flavours for projects according to specified requirements (i.e. customer, regulatory, legislation, cost) and suggest improvements for the most common applications
Coach, train, and motivate technicians and technologists
Lead evaluations of flavours in food applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations
Identify appropriate flavour delivery systems and technologies for customer projects in specific applications
Actively maintain the flavour performance data for the flavour portfolio through evaluation in finished product and capture of profiles
Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines
Serve as technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, flavour creation, and customers for specific applications

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, and 2- 3 years experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area (preferred)
Polytechnic or B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology and at least 5 years experience in a food applications lab, preferred INSTANT NOODLE

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Ability to effectively participate on customer projects including customer visits
Ability to translate market trends into innovative products for selected customers
Basic technical problem solving skills in a specific applications area
Project management skills and the ability to successfully lead selected customer projects
Ability to instruct technicians and technologists
Understanding of selected food applications, ingredients, and processes with practical experience in customers’ food manufacturing environment
Basic understanding of many of the flavour reactions/interactions in common food products
